LHC aims to respond to general enquiries in less than 24 hours. Please avoid sending detailed medical records by ordinary email; ask the team how to provide them securely. This contact service is not monitored for emergencies. Call 000 in an emergency.
Raise a concern
If you are unhappy with your care, service, billing or the handling of your information, contact LHC’s Complaints Officer using the details above. Briefly explain what happened, relevant dates and the outcome you would like. You may ask a support person or authorised representative to assist. Tell LHC if you need help communicating your concern.
How LHC handles complaints
LHC aims to acknowledge complaints within two business days, assess urgent safety concerns promptly, investigate fairly and give a written response within 30 calendar days. If more time is required, LHC will explain the reason and expected response date. The response will explain findings, proposed action and external options. Information is shared only as needed to address the complaint or as permitted by law. Making a complaint will not disadvantage your access to appropriate care.
Independent complaint options
You may contact an external body directly; completing LHC’s process is not a condition of raising a clinical safety concern.
- Queensland health services or practitioners: Office of the Health Ombudsman, www.oho.qld.gov.au/make-a-complaint, telephone 133 646. It is the single entry point for Queensland health complaints, including registered and unregistered practitioners.
- Other states and territories: contact the relevant health complaints body. Ahpra lists these at ahpra.gov.au — health complaints organisations.
- Concerns about an Ahpra-registered practitioner: ahpra.gov.au — concerned about a practitioner or 1300 419 495. Queensland concerns should be directed to the Health Ombudsman. Ahpra does not regulate every type of health worker.
- Privacy: Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints, telephone 1300 363 992. Generally, raise the issue with LHC first and allow a reasonable response period, usually 30 days.
